Please note that delegates are required to have a minimum of two years hands-on experience in body repair processes.
Vehicle repair technicians who need to work on electric vehicle as part of the repair process.
Please note that delegates are required to have appropriate vehicle maintenance and repair knowledge and skills at level 3.
Repair sector staff across all disciplines or insurance engineers that need to gain an awareness and understanding of higher voltage vehicles for completing the competence test for the IMI qualification and for BS10125 compliance.
This course provides delegates with the necessary knowledge and skills for the requirements of the L3 Electric/Hybrid Vehicle IMI qualification.
Delegates will learn how to:
- Carry out the procedure to isolate and reinstate the high energy electrical system (Unit EV2.2)
- Connect an alternative power source to an electric/hybrid vehicle (Unit EV2.2)
- Disconnect and reconnect a high energy system battery (Unit EV3)
- Remove and refit a high energy system component (Unit EV3)
Preparation and familiarization with the tasks in Unit EV2.2. and Unit EV3:
- Describe the steps required to make a EV vehicle safe
- Demonstrate the appropriate skills and knowledge to safely repair an EV vehicle
- Explain the safety requirements needed to work on a EV vehicle
- There is an online IMI Knowledge test with a minimum pass rate of 60%.
Delegates will be required to complete practical assessments to demonstrate appropriate knowledge and skills.
