We are currently recruiting 2 proactive team players to join us as Facilities and Fleet Support Assistants on a full time, permanent basis. These roles will support colleagues and activities in both our Facilities and Fleet teams, making this a great opportunity for those who enjoy broad and varied work. 

The Facilities Department are an efficient and helpful team, who like to carry out general cleaning and building repairs themselves. As the Facilities and Support Assistant you’ll support these activities so, practical experience of general DIY tasks such as painting and decorating, would be highly beneficial, as would prior cleaning experience (building spaces or vehicles). 

The Fleet Department are an organised team who do a great job of supporting our research, training, and operational car fleet. You'll support the team by cleaning and moving vehicles and so a UK driving license, along with a good attention to detail will be a must. 

As the Facilities and Fleet Support Assistant your main responsibilities will involve:

  • Reviewing, responding and reacting appropriately to facilities support requests via the helpdesk system
  • Carrying out general repair/maintenance duties e.g. decoration, picture hanging, furniture moving
  • Collecting refuse from all sites to ensure a clean and pleasant working environment, including offices, recycling and workshop areas
  • Unlocking / locking buildings
  • Cleaning and maintenance of vehicles and sites, including workshops and offices to a high standard
  • Moving (driving) vehicles

Your skills and qualifications as the Facilities and Fleet Support Assistant will include:

  • Experience in facilities support / maintenance and cleaning
  • Experience in the safe use of power tools and equipment
  • Practical experience of painting and decorating
  • UK driving license – you will be required to move (drive) vehicles
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and procedures
  • Basic IT skills, previous experience using a helpdesk system would be highly advantageous but not essential

Location: Thatcham, Berkshire

Working Hours: Will be on a shift basis. Week 1 working hours will be 07.00 -15.00 Monday – Friday and week 2 will be 09.30 – 17.30 Monday – Friday
