Product Assessment & Certification

Thatcham's expertise and reputation for quality means the centre is ideally positioned to carry out independent product certification on a wide variety of automotive related products. Quite simply, if a product carries the Thatcham Quality Assured trademark – you can rely on it.

Widely known amongst motorists for the testing and certification of Vehicle Security products, Thatcham are also equipped with a state of the art testing laboratory and an expert team of product assessors who have developed an excellent industry reputation for certification of a growing range of repair equipment and other automotive innovations under the ‘Thatcham Quality Assurance’ mark.

TQA is now the single brand for all Thatcham certified products and equipment, following an extension of the scheme’s coverage to include all existing vehicle security categories as well as other automotive related product groups.

TQA looks at all aspects of product performance, manufacturing capability and service, meaning that each product that achieves the coveted mark has successfully undergone a rigorous assessment under Thatcham’s own robust criteria. Products are also monitored and periodically reviewed throughout the duration of the accreditation to ensure that the levels of quality, service and performance are retained.

TQA is registered as an official trademarked certification scheme and concentrates on products designed to enhance vehicle security, safety and reliability as well as tools and equipment used in automotive repair. In fact any quality product intended for use in the automotive sector can potentially carry the Thatcham Quality Assured mark – first though it will need to have satisfied the rigorous demands of Thatcham’s testing and certification process and to have met the high standards of the criteria set by the experts.

Thatcham also carry out an extensive Certified parts scheme alongside partner organisation TUV Rheinland which aims to verify the quality of aftermarket non-structural repair panels and encourage the use of these non OE parts in vehicle repair.
