    - Graham Trudgill & Steve Foulsham - BIBA (British Insurance Brokers Association)

    BIBA present an outline of the key points that the motor committee are dealing with, ranging from continuous insurance enforcement, electronic delivery of motor insurance certificates, fraud, comparison sites, equality and the new DFT consultation – a safer way.

    New car safety technologies designed to prevent or mitigate collisions are rapidly entering the market and showing real potential to reduce both injury and damage costs.     The New Vehicle Security Rating scheme currently covers Passenger Cars, Vans and Trucks and from June 2008 will be extended to also cover Motorcycles. Combining the Mechanical, Electronic and Identification security features of each motorcycle model, Thatcham will be providing a security star rating via their website. This seminar looks at the assessment process in more detail.

    Thatcham’s latest Bumper Testing results continue to show deficiencies in bumper beam design and therefore failings in protecting cars from costly damage. Thatcham’s seminar reveals the latest findings and takes a look at future research investigating and making recommendations on the protection of the corners of cars, which accounts for between one third to one half of the total repair cost for a given car repair.

    With a new overall car rating scheme launched in February, the European car safety testing organisation is more relevant than ever, moving with the times and the changing technologies to provide ever more accurate and transparent vehicle safety information. This seminar takes a look at the new rating scheme and shows how Euro NCAP are reflecting an increasing consumer demand in challenging vehicle manufacturers to make all-round safer cars.
