Practical assessments:
1) Remove and refit vehicle trim (door card)
2) Remove and refit a door lock, fittings, door electrical components & exterior handle
3) Remove and refit a bumper cover, including associated lamps and fittings
4) Remove and refit a headlamp assembly
UnderPinning Knowledge (UPK) test:
The online UPK test consists of 30 questions and includes the following areas to ensure that the technician has the

This course carries a high practical content
1) Air Conditioning
Principles of both basic and climate control A/C systems operation
Delegates will be able to reclaim, vacuum a system, recharge and check operating requirements along with leak checking procedures.
2) Basic Vehicle Electrics
The correct use of a multi-meter in fault finding, how to read appropriate wiring and data sheets, and tracing set practical faults on ATA.
3) Wheel Alignment
Understanding 4 wheel alignment prerequisites, along with angles measured and setting vehicles to manufacturer’s data.
The working out of target data, for setting vehicle’s on an ATA.
4) Air bag
Working practice associated with the removal and refitting of an air bag, along with the correct storage of SRS components.
Correlation of the repair data, along with the use of special tools for the required tasks set.
5) MET Components
Repair methodology, and the correct procedures when removing and refitting mechanical and trim components, during vehicle repairs.
The correct interpretation of data, and special tool requirements to carry out set tasks on the ATA. |

The ATA assessments should be of interest for companies aiming to achieve the BSI Kitemark Standard in view of the recently released PAS 125 document. It may also be of interest for those technicians working within the industry who wish to attain recognition for their level of skills.
A 1 day assessment to assess a candidates underpinning knowledge by on-line test and their practical skills by a series of workshop tasks relating to their occupation. |

Upon successful completion of all the elements of the assessments day the candidate will have demonstrated their competence at Technician Level. |

The AC-Refrigerant Handler Technician assessment will comprise of an on line knowledge test and a practical assessment. These should identify the competence of the technician and best practice throughout the assessments.
The practical assessments to include the following vehicle areas:
- Health and Safety, regulations, correct use of PPE and guidelines throughout the practical assessments
- Procedures for handling AC refrigerant
- Recovery from a MVAC
- Recycling of refrigerant
- Recharging of an AC system
- Leak detection (inc knowledge of at least two methods of checking for AC leaks)
- Store and transfer any waste material following current legal requirements and necessary documentation to support

form if your delegate has any special needs that Thatcham need to be aware of.
Also, please indicate your BSI Audit/Inspection date, if you are applying for PAS 125.
This will assist us to ensure delegates are offered assessment dates, where possible,
prior to the audit/inspection taking place.
Thatcham will require the original copy of the application form for audit purposes,
however, customers may also fax their application to us for initial processing

Delegates who have been referred after taking either the ATA Technician Accreditation or the ATA Senior Technician Accreditation |
| OBJECTIVES |
To undertake intensive training in the task/s relating to the referral items in their particular discipline for the ATA Accreditation |
| NOTE |
We have designed this particular session for any delegates that have undertaken an ATA and have been referred. However, it is only available for delegates who have been referred on one or two elements.
The cost of this intensive training will be charged at £195 + vat per delegate.
Once the delegate has attended the intensive training, they will be able to undertake a retake for those referred tasks in their chosen discipline.
The price of a partial retake will vary depending on the particular elements on which the individual delegate has been referred.
If a delegate has been referred on three or more practical elements, it is highly recommended that the delegate attends the Preparation course designed for their relevant discipline, prior to a full retake of their particular assessment.
The IMI have stated that no more that 12 months may elapse between the first assessment and the last successful assessment. Therefore once the 12 month period has expired, a delegate will be required to commence all elements of their chosen assessment from the beginning. |
