Experienced Vehicle Damage Assessors (Engineers / Estimators), who have a minimum of 5 years industry experience and 2 years practical assessor experience in the job role, and who wish to progress towards ATA VDA accreditation. |
| OBJECTIVES |
To be able to carry out vehicle damage assessments in line with BSI / ATA requirements.
To enable delegates to create accurate repair specifications that ensure repairs are safe, appropriate and reflect researched repair methods. |
| NOTE |
An escribe assessment will be provided to you with your confirmation letter. This needs to be completed prior to attendance and brought with you on the day of the course. Should you feel you cannot complete the questions it is advised that you contact the Academy to discuss attending an escribe course prior to attending the Essential Vehicle Damage Assessment course.
Thatcham Advanced Vehicle Damage Assessor’s Courses (B47) have been running for many years, developing more recently into a format best suited in assisting Vehicle Damage Assessors in successfully qualifying in ATA VDA.
At Thatcham, we are continually working to enhance and improve our training products. We operate a policy of continuous improvement and as a result of feedback received, we have now introduced this new 3 day course (replacing the previous Advanced Vehicle Damage Assessor - B47) to provide delegates with additional time to apply new techniques during the training and to prepare for ATA success.
Delegates attending this course will be able to take their ATA VDA Part A on the morning of the second day of the course. There will be no charge for Part A's when booked as part of the VDA03 course. When booking please complete both the Thatcham standard course booking form and also the Part A application form. |
| CONTENT |
1) Theory knowledge for the delegate to be competent in the ATA Part A, including insurance principles, ABI Salvage Code, Vehicle Construction Materials and repairability
2) Practical application of escribe methods
3) Vehicle data collection and pre-accident appraisal process
4) Optional ATA Part A exam included * (requires ATA form to be sent prior to course)
5) Vehicle valuation process, using Glasses Guide Evaluator
6) Assessing vehicle accident damage, primary and secondary / ripple damage
7) Compiling safe and appropriate repair methods, including creating an audit trail
8) Compiling detailed repair specifications
9) At least one vehicle damage appraisal assessment as per ATA criteria, with instructor feedback |

Please note this is an online test and the duration is 90 minutes
Thatcham strongly recommend that all delegates wishing to proceed with the VDA Curriculum, attend the VDA03 course to ensure they have received the most up to date training and information required for the ATA. All delegates attending the VDA03 course will be able to take their on-line tests on the morning of day 2. If completing the on-line tests as part of this course, their will be no charges for the Part A.
Please complete both a Thatcham booking form to book your course and also complete the IMI Part A application form, so that we can register your details with the IMI and ensure the tests have been made available.
There will be limited Part A On-line tests available independently of the VDA03 course and these will be charged at £100 + vat (including IMI fee) as listed below. However, should you be referred and need to book a retake of the Part A, then a fee of £50 will be incurred.

To ensure currency of assessments the IMI have stated that no more that 12 months may elapse between the first assessment and the last successful assessment. Therefore once the 12 month period has expired, a delegate will be required to commence all elements of their chosen assessment from the beginning. We would like to advise that for VDA the 12 month period will commence from the first time the on-line test is activated.

Vehicle Damage Assessors (VDA) preparing for ATA Vehicle Damage Assessor Assessment, who have successfully completed the Thatcham Advanced Vehicle Damage Assessor training (B47) and have taken Part A of the VDA ATA. (the online test). |
| OBJECTIVES |
The course will refresh and underpin previous training knowledge gained prior to taking the ATA VDA Part B. |
| NOTE |
To ensure currency of assessments the IMI have stated that no more that 12 months may elapse between the first assessment and the last successful assessment. Therefore once the 12 month period has expired, a delegate will be required to commence all elements of their chosen assessment from the beginning. We would like to advise that for VDA the 12 month period will commence from the first time the on-line test is activated.

Also, please indicate your BSI Audit/Inspection date, if you are applying for PAS 125.
This will assist us to ensure delegates are offered assessment dates, where possible,
prior to the audit/inspection taking place.
Thatcham will require the original copy of the application form for audit purposes,
however, customers may also fax their application to us for initial processing

| NOTE |
We have designed this particular session for any candidates that have been on an ATA and referred. However it is only available for candidates who have been referred on one or two practical elements.
